Main Stars ~ science experiment

Balloon Fizz-inflator Experiment

What you need:

Small plastic bottle
Funnel
Balloon
Baking Soda
½ cup vinegar
Teaspoon

I half filled the balloon with baking powder and put the vinegar in the bottle then carefully placed the balloon over the top of the bottle and let the baking soda drop into the vinegar.

The combination of the baking soda and vinegar created a gas called carbon dioxide.  The gas expanded and filled the bottle then moved up into the balloon and inflated it.

I learnt that the chemical reaction when you mix vinegar and baking soda (bicarbonate soda) creates carbon dioxide.
